ABMT (Account Based Money Transfer) is a new feature which allows you to receive Western Union Money Transfer directly into your GTBank Account online, real-time without the need to visit any Agent or Bank, Therefore you can directly claim Western Union Money Transfer into your Account at the comfort of your home, anytime of the day.
Before now, to receive Western Union Money Transfer, you would need to visit an Authorized Agent/Bank (First Bank, GTB, UBA etc) fill out a form containing senders Name, Address, MTCN 10 Digit number, Amount expected, provide a valid identification document (National ID, Driver’s license or Voters Card) and enter last 4 digits of the MTCN Number and so on.
But now, the good thing is that Western Union has launched Account Based Money Transfer (ABMT), and before you can activate this feature you'll need to have activated GT Internet Banking and obtained your Token Device.

This also clears the fact that before you can receive money through Western Union you MUST have an account with any of the participating banks.

Setting Up Union Account Based Money Transfer (ABMT) On your Internet Banking services
When filling out the form, take note of the following
- Log on to GTBank Internet Banking from www.gtbank.com
- On the Left Menu, Select Self Service, and click Add Service(s)
- Uncheck all other options but Select "Western Union Receive Money"
- Enter you Secret answer. Digits generated from you Token device is also required to confirm the service added.
How to receive Western Union directly into GT Bank account.
On the Left side menu, Select the "Requests" and click "Western Union Receive Money"When filling out the form, take note of the following
- Account to credit" field (Receiving in Naira or if you have Domiciliary accounts linked to your Internet Banking - Select the correct Currency)
- Email address means Receiver’s Email address
- Mobile Number means Receiver’s Mobile Number
- Remarks (not necessary)
- Enter your test question and answer, and Submit
- Wait for transaction to be processed.
If you have a pending Western Union Money Transfer, GTBank will at this stage send you a confirmation message stating that the money has been credited into your GTBank Account
NOTE: if for any reason there is a failed attempts, you will allow 15 minutes to fix the problem before you try again, so make sure every detail is correct.
