There is no doubt that formatting a PC will give it a fresh breath both in speed and performance , but the processes involved in formatting a PC could be frustrating sometimes because of the activates you have to carry out ranging from re-installing drivers for both sound and video etc.,
There is a better way to give your PC that same fresh breath without losing your factory installed programmes, all you need to do is move your files away from the drive that contains the Operating System which is usually drive (C:) to a save place or to another drive (D:) suppose you have of a partitioned Hard disk.
This process will achieve the same purpose as formatting and it is quicker and less tedious because you will be restoring the PC to its factory setting (that same way your PC was the very first day you powered it on for the first time and with complete drivers)
The factory software recovery image is stored in a hidden area of the hard disk drive on most Toshiba laptops, so you can use the image to restore the device to factory defaults
In resent Toshiba Laptops (Satellite ) it is the F8 Function key, Press and hold down the F8 key Button and press the power button of your PC

This is what you need to do
Check your PC user guide to know which function key, F1-F12 your Manufacturer has set aside to trigger the Factory setting.In resent Toshiba Laptops (Satellite ) it is the F8 Function key, Press and hold down the F8 key Button and press the power button of your PC
When the screen pops up follow the instruction to format your PC
Warning: All data on the hard drive will be erased. Back up any important data before proceeding. Make sure the computer is connected to a power supply and do not switch it off or restart during the process.
Alternatively, there is another possible way of doing this,
1) Shutdown your PC
2) Press and hold the zero key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your PC
3) When the machine starts beeping, release the zero key
4) When prompted by the warning screen, select Yes to continue with the system recovery
5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software and click Next
6) Select Recover to out-of-box state and Click Next again
7) Click Next to Start the recovery
