How to Turn Your BlackBerry into a Wireless Wi-Fi Hotspot

You will agree with me that if you move away from the comfort of your home or office and there is need for you to connect your notebook to the internet, not every location has a free wireless internet connection.
But with your blackberry running on OS (Operating System) 7.1, you can turn it into a wireless Hotspot which you can now use to connect your notebook to the internet with a fast speed.

It will be wise to let you know that this was carried out with a Torch 2 Blackberry and a laptop running Windows 7 OS, you may not be able to use Hotspot this with your Torch 2 BlackBerry if you have not upgraded the OS from 7.0 to 7.1, because Hotspot is not available on OS 7.0 so click here to learn how to upgrade your Blackberry Software

Steps to turn your BlackBerry into a Hotspot

Perform this on your BlackBerry

1. Click the top bar of your BlackBerry screen to show the “Manager Connection” Alternatively, locate the “Manage Connections” icon on your BlackBerry

2. Tick/click on “Mobile Hotspot” and “Wi-Fi” the mobile Hotspot setup will appear.

3. Under “Network Name (SSID)” Enter a name for your Hotspot network. E.g. jindu Hotspot

4. Under “Security type” choose “WAP2 Personal”.

5. Enter a Password under “Passphrase” which will be required if you want to connect any other Wi-Fi device to your Hotspot, save your settings.

Preform this on your Notebook/Laptop

6. Go to “Control Panel” of your notebook

7. Search for “Network sharing center” and click on it

8. Click on “Set up a new connection or network

9. Under “Chose a connection option” in the “Set Up a connection or Network” pop up, select “Manually connect to a wireless network

10. Under “Enter information for the wireless network you want to add” input the following
Network name = jindu Hotspot (or any other name you like)

Security type = WAP2 Personal

Encryption type = AES

Security key = myogaatthetop (or any other name you like)

11. When you see a massage telling you that you have successfully added your hotspot, click close and you are good to go.

Note: At the end of your browsing session, tick/click on “Mobile Hotspot” and “Wi-Fi” on your BlackBerry again to stop the mobile Hotspot.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT THIS HOTSPOT USES THE MEGABYTE ON YOUR PHONE AND NOT YOUR BLACKBERRY SUBSCRIPTION PLAN. ALSO TRY AND FIND OUT IFVGLO NETWORK IS GOOD IN YOUR AREA.

THANKS
