How to Browse with Glo BIS Subscription on PC with 3GB Data cap

Sometime ago, there was a reform in the Telecommunication sector and we noticed a reduction in the Data cap given by various services providers. For instance, MTN BIS which was unlimited before we witnessed a reduction from the unlimited Megabyte to a Data cap of 1GB, which also lead to the reduction in the amount charged for both MTN BIS complete and social plans.
I believe this reform will continue until a balance is reached. I once called Glo customer care to find out how much Data cap Glo complete plan has, and I was told it is just 1GB, but after a week or so, I got an SMS from Glo asking me to subscribe to Glo BIS and get 3 GB of data.

Based on this SMS I received, I was able to deduce that Glo now gives 3GB for a period of one month, when you subscribe to BIS complete also I want to share with you, how you can use this Glo subscription on your PC to browse the internet, by simply inserting your Glo SIM with Active BIS subscription in your modem, create a new profile using Blackberry.net as your APN and off you go.
There is no doubt that Glo is one of the most stable network in Nigeria, so Using it on your PC as well as your BlackBerry at the same time will be nice.

Steps

1. Put your Glo SIM into any phone, load the required amount of airtime into the SIM

For Glo weekly plan which cost N400 for 700MB, send coweek in an SMS to 777
For Glo monthly plan which cost N1400 for 3GB, send comonth in an SMS to 777
2.  Remove the SIM and put into your Modem and plug it to your PC
3.  (Depends on your type of Modem) When the modem software interface comes up, go to:
a.       Tools => Options => Profile Management=> New
                                Or
b.      Settings=> Add (for Airtel ZTE Modems)
Fill the information below

Profile Name:
GLO BIS
APN:
blackberry.net
Access Number:
*99#
Username:
Leave it Blank
Password:
Leave it Blank

Note: you have to check the "Use the following APN name" before you can input "blackberry.net"

Click on OK
Now go back to the "Connect or Connection" Tab (depends on your type of Modem) interface, from the drop down list, locate and choose GLO BIS

Click on "Connect"
Now look at the "Received Rate", if you have something like  0.00 kbps after connecting, it shows it won’t browse, so you can Disconnectand Connect again, you can even go to the extent of restarting your PC.
But as soon as you see a reasonable number like the one bellow (87.89kbps) and above, lets say 287.89kbps, for instance, then you are good to go
This was done on Airtel modem (ZTE Modem, Model: MF190) that has been unlocked.
