How I Opened And I Got My Paypal Business Account Verified Here in Nigeria

PayPal entering Nigeria is a big relief for most online merchandise who had a big challenge in the past on payment processor for their online store, with the entry of PayPal few days ago, I want to share with you today how I verified my PayPal account online with my Debit card, (Master or Visa). Nigerian issued Verve is not eligible for now.

My Paypal account was verified with my GTB Naira Mastercard. It happened within an hour. I want to show you how I verified it and the simple steps I followed.

How I Get my Paypal Account Verified in Nigeria

1. Got to https://www.paypal.com/ng/. if you don’t have account yet, click on sign-up.
2. Click on either personal or business and fill the form to create your account. When asked to verify your account use you master card or Visa card details.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you supplied when registering, sign in to your email box and confirm the message

3. Another page will open asking for your password.

4. Your account will be verified at this stage.
5. Log on to your Paypal account dashboard, click on the Get Verified

6. A page will show prompting you to enter your card details. If you have not done so i.e. the card number, card type, card expiry date and the CVV (three digits at the back of the card). Click on continue to proceed.

7. PayPal will charge your card $1.95 to confirm if you truly owns the card. However, the $1.95 charged would be refunded back into your PayPal account.

Here is the exact message in respect to this
You linked your debit or credit card to your PayPal account on Jun 17, 2014. To make sure the card is yours, we made a small charge to it that you'll need to confirm (and we'll refund the money to your PayPal account when you're done).
The charge creates a unique 4-digit code on your card statement. If you don't see the charge right away, don't worry - sometimes it takes a few days to show up. If you can't check your card statement online, check your paper statement when it comes in the mail (this can take up to 30 days). You will find the charge from PayPal with a 4-digit code.

How to confirm your card:
1. Check your card statement and look for a charge from "PayPal" with a 4-digit code next to it.
2. Log in to your PayPal account and click Confirm Credit Card.
3. Enter the 4-digit code to confirm your card.
When that's done, you'll be able to pay safer online with your card through PayPal - without ever exposing your financial information to sellers.

Yours sincerely,
PayPal

8. Wait for the card statement or debit alert from your bank via SMS or Email and you will see a 4-digit code associated with the Paypal charge. The SMS alert should include a line similar to:

The Naira equivalent of USD1.95 has been authorized for the transaction done on PP*5483CODE 0149526789FE

Once you get the alert copy the 4-digit number highlighted in yellow, this is what you will use to Confirm your debit or credit card

9. Enter the 4-digit in the space provided and then click on Confirm Card

10. If you enter the correct 4 digits number, a congratulatory dialogue box will appear on your screen

11. You Paypal account is now verified and the status should now show verified when you log into your PayPal account.

Currently, you can send funds to accounts that can receive funds with PayPal account, you can also pay online on merchant sites where PayPal is required.

Once you can verify your PayPal account with VISA or MasterCard from local banks in Nigeria. Then that card used for verification becomes your PayPal account funding source (meaning that will be the card you will be using to fund/put money into your PayPal account)

Note: in other to withdraw funds from your PayPal account to your bank account, (accepting payment is not available for Nigerians yet) or vice versa, you must add (verify) a credit card or debit card to your PayPal account now, or at a later time.
